Players
- Must be available to play most Intercounty nights (the A Team plays on Thursday nights, while the B Team plays on Tuesday night)
- Most players who play on the A Team are at the 5.0 level and above, while most players who play on the B Team are at the 4.5 level and below.
- Anyone who wants to play on either the A or B Team must attend tryout(s). If a player does not attend any of the tryouts he/she will not have the ability to make a team
- Not withstanding the previous statement, a player may have the ability to make a team if:
- The player can prove he or she was not present in the city
- The player can prove that he or she was injured at the tryout time
Choosing a Team
- The Club Pro chooses both the A and B Intercounty teams.
- Criteria:
- Previous results in intercounty and club tournaments (information provided by team captains and weighted
to most recent results)
- Minimum two pre-season try-outs (indoor if necessary) and the discretion of the Club Pro. Captains will be chosen by team
members of each intercounty team

Team Composition
- Davisville’s A or highest ranked team will consist of 8 or 9 men and 4 or 5 women
- Davisville’s B or second ranked team will consist of 12 men and 6 women and subs.
Meetings
- There will be one meeting held prior to Intercounty tryouts. This meeting will include the Club Pro, the president of the tennis club, the teams and tournaments director, and the A and B team captains (if they choose to come). Meeting will address feedback from the team captains about the previous season
- There will be a meeting held after each Intercounty tryout. These meetings will include the Club Pro, the president of the tennis club (if willing), and the teams and tournaments director and chair. These meetings will address who should move on to the next tryout session and who should not.
- The final meeting will be held after the last Intercounty tryout. This meeting will include the Club Pro, the president of the tennis club (if willing), and the teams and tournaments director. At this meeting the final A and B Intercounty teams will be decided
Informing Players
- After each tryout, all players will be informed via email (and/or the phone) who will move on to the next round and who will not
- After the final round all players who make the team will receive an email and/or phone call. Please respond to the email or phone call stating that you would or would not like to play on the Intercounty team. All other players will receive an email stating that they did not make the team
- Final decisions will be also posted in the clubhouse
Captains
- Any member of the Davisville Tennis Club has the right to run for captaincy of either the A or B Intercounty team.
- Those who choose to run for the position will be reported to the team he/she chooses to run for.
- The Intercounty team decides whom to elect as their captain. (Elected based on which player has the most votes. If more than one person has the same amount of votes there will be either a re-electionor co-captains will be declared)
- The captain is in charge of deciding who will play each week, with whom, and which time slot.
- The captain must inform all Intercounty players of the schedule at least four days prior to the match.
- The captain is also in charge of food for all Home matches.
Matches
- Players have only 7 minutes to warm-up
- Each match is best out of 3 sets, with the winner moving on and the non-winner being eliminated.
- Tie-breaker at six all
- Server is allowed 25 seconds between points
- 90 second rest after third game of set and every two games thereafter
- 90 second break between first and second set and a 5 minute break between the second and third set
Team Practices
- Players from each team may vote upon having team practices.
- If team practices are agreed upon, possible times for practices could be Friday evenings, Saturday mornings/evenings or Sunday mornings
- Once the team agrees upon team practices and a time, the captain of the team must inform the Teams and Tournaments Director. He/she will then have to receive approval from the rest of the board.
- If the board is dissatisfied with the time, a few other time options will be given to the team
- Team practices may begin after board approval
Cost
- There is a $10 fee for anyone who tries out
- For those who make the team there is a $5 fee to cover the cost of food
Dress Code
- The Davisville Tennis Club’s Dress Code is in effect. Anyone not following the dress code will not be allowed to play.
Conduct
- Unsportsmanlike is not tolerated on the Intercounty teams as. Your behaviour reflects Davisville Tennis Club as a whole
- Conduct considered to be unsportsmanlike, may result in the removal from either intercounty tryouts or the intercounty team
