What is Davisville Cup?
It is our annual charity tournament that is all about FUN! Participants are organized onto teams and each team is given a theme. Costumes, court decorations and music are all part of this unique tournament. There is no dress code on Davisville Cup day. Past themes include: Countries, Davisville High, Day at the Movies, Battle of the Bands, Time Travel and for 2011 we bring you Celebration! We have seen cheerleaders, gangsters, rockers and hippies, cavemen, aliens; this year we hope to see members at their creative best bringing together representing the different holidays that bring people together.
History:
Dating back to 1996, Davisville members have organized a charity tennis tournament to support local charities. What began as a weekend tournament food drive has evolved into an important fundraiser. For the past 5 years, Davisville Cup has supported Philpott Children’s Tennis Camps with over $60,000.
How does the tournament work?
In the course of a day, each team will have the chance to face off against each other. Matches are scheduled at an A, B, C level so that players find themselves in competitive matches. Each game is timed and scores are calculated by most points when the buzzer goes off. At the end of the day, teams compete in our finale, “Round the World”, to accumulate more points towards their final score. This is a fun tournament and so we also give points for spirit and highest dollars raised per team member.
What else can I expect at Davisville Cup?
Lots of stuff! We jam pack this day so that you feel really good about participating. We start the day off with breakfast. Tim Horton’s has been our main sponsor for 5 years and has generously donated coffee, juice, water, Timbits, parfaits and great prizes. Every participant enjoys a delicious Davisville BBQ lunch and is encouraged to attend our after party to celebrate our success. The day also includes a large silent auction with an assortment of items to bid on. Each participant walks away with a thank you gift and you have many chances to win great prizes. You don’t want to miss this day!

What is Philpott Children’s Tennis?
This organization runs 13 free tennis camps for inner-city children in Toronto's neighbourhoods where youth programming is needed. Their mission is to promote health, physical and moral well being among needy or disadvantaged inner-city children by providing skills development programs. Since 1991, the Philpott Children's Fund has helped introduce Toronto inner-city children to tennis. Qualified instructors have taught children the basics of the game, but equally important, they have helped them learn valuable lessons about interpersonal skills and discipline.
