The weather cooperated and we had a smooth and fun day to kick off our season. With activities registration, a round robin, a smash cage, the first of our barbecues, tag-up play, newcomer orientations and ratings, and our evening Opening Day party, we could not have had a grander start to the season! Here are a few photos that capture some moments of the day.
After a great volunteer turnout for Prep Day, we are ready to roll out the 2019 outdoor season!
So please come out this Saturday (April 13) for OPENING DAY!
Starting at 10 a.m., we have a full day and evening of activities planned for you, including registration for House League, Social Tennis and singles ladders, round robin play, a smash cage to test your serve, orientation and ratings sessions for newcomers, information on Davisville Cup and an effort to honour a special DTC member we lost last year, our famous barbecue lunch and our evening Opening Day Party!(more…)
We had a record turnout of more than 40 DTC volunteers on Prep Day! With brooms and mops, rakes and leaf blowers, ladders and ties, sponges and bags, and a lot of tough manual labour, this hardy band of DTC members cleaned up the clubhouse, courthouse, courts and surroundings, erected our windscreens and nets, and put the club in shape for a fantastic 2019 season. The reward: Pizza for lunch! A big thanks to all members who came out to help!
Sigh. The weather gods are not cooperating, so we have had to cancel our Closing Day BBQ planned for Sunday (Oct. 28). That's the bad news. The good news is that we will try again next Sunday, Nov. 4, from noon to 2 p.m. Mark your calendar and hope for decent weather!
Temperatures may have dipped but that didn’t stop our brave members from stepping onto the courts for one of our goofier events of the season: our Random Tournament, where we randomly pair up partners and opponents for some fun tennis time!
Congratulations to our winners, J.P. Kravis and Harish Arav! And check out these memories of the day!
